On May 21 we will be showcasing chocolate makers who use Tanzanian beans, including Omnom, Dandelion, Palette de Bine, Uncouth Chocolate, and Chocolate Naive.
Kokoa Kamili is located in Tanzania's Kilombero Valley bordering the beautiful Udzungwa Mountain National Park.
They source wet cacao directly from 2,600 smallholder farmers and ferment, sun dry and export the cocoa beans to chocolate makers around the world.
Kokoa Kamili is a social enterprise – both co-founders have a long history of working in development in Africa and were keen to base their work with the private sector around ensuring a triple bottom line. They are committed to paying a premium above the going market rate in the region.
